External layers allow browse to hard drive
I have KML files on my hard drive and don't want to use an external url for mapping. I would like the opportunity to browse for a KML file

We are looking into this. Currently, Google needs to be able to access the file from their servers. More likely than a harddrive mapping would be an upload option.

Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately, Google Maps requires that their servers have access to the KML files for them to render it on the map. They must pull the file into their data center, process it and then send it through to your client machine. We cannot get around that.
We could look to a way to let you "upload" your files via Geopointe, but would rather not be responsible for housing customer data.
A very easy solution is to use the Public folder in Dropbox, which provides a public URL. Of course, putting the file on any web server will also work. You'd then provide Geopointe the URL to that file.
