Can you give more detail as to how you input into a GPS? The reason I ask is that there are file types (.gpx comes to mind) that many GPS devices support. How do you enter data? Does your GPS allow you to import files? Can you email it a file for importing?

In the main web interface, you can open saved route. When you do, you can click the PDF icon. This will generate a PDF of the route. Page 1 of that PDF has a map and then a Location Summary list.

You could certainly print that and manually input into your GPS from that.

Have you noticed the new Shape Search we added recently? This lets you draw a shape onto the map and search inside. After you have a shape on the map, you can color it and save it for re-use. Would this ability (especially the saving part) accommodate your need?

I now realize that this was originally intended for Analytics. I do think it could apply to all mapping.

Thanks for the idea. Although, this cannot be achieved in the UI today, it could be achieved in Apex code. Not sure if you are versed in Apex Code, but Geopointe comes with an Apex Class that is able to perform Radial Searches.

We have customers that have code (usually a trigger or a batch job) that associated the nearest x number of records to another record. Imaging having a a job that runs and the end result is a list of nearby records listed on your Account/Lead/AnyRecord page. It's very possible with what we have today, but does require code.

I understand that this idea is more about an easy way to do this in the UI and that's a great idea, but wanted to let you know about the code possibilities. Thanks for participating!

We wil look into this. Makes sense.

There is an Export KML button now that can be used to download the points to a KML file. Double-clicking that file should open it in Google Earth. Once exported, you are separated from the Salesforce data and just looking at the export file.

We understand that it'd be more beneficial to have Earth embedded into the page, so you do not need to go through an export/import process with Earth. We'll investigate.

Great idea. This idea can get very complex fast. We do like the idea of having a callback into Salesforce. We're open to suggestions, but here's how we see it so far...

    * Add To Campaign - this is a standard Salesforce operation across lots of customers. I could envision having a function to automatically add results to a Campaign from SpatialKey.

    * Your Web Service - this one is more generic, but opens up lots of possibilities and that is to allow you to identify endpoints of your own code and we allow SpatialKey to send a list of data to that and you take it from there. This will require work on your part, but allows for lots of options.

    Thoughts?

All this requires the cooperation of SpatialKey. I know they'd be open to it, but would need to see that it's a desired idea. So vote it up!

This is one that's out of our control, but we'll pass it along to SpatialKey. They recently did some pod redesign for other visualizations, so I'll see if we can get this one on their radar too.
